Who is Dale Last?

Growing up amidst the cane fields of Bundaberg, Dale Last has a family background in the sugar and cattle industries so relates to the issues facing our farmers.

Dale also spent 25 years as a police officer at various rural and remote stations throughout Queensland prior to his appointment to the challenging role of Officer in Charge of the Townsville Police Station – a position he held from December 2000 to March 2008, when he was first elected to the Townsville City Council.

As a former Councillor and Deputy Mayor with Townsville City Council, Dale understands the issues important to the thriving Burdekin electorate.

He was also Emergency Management Queensland Area Director, overseeing the regional disaster management programs and SES support program for Charters Towers and Palm Island councils.

Having operated his own small business for eight years, Dale believes small business is the backbone of Queensland’s economy and needs to be supported to ensure local communities flourish.

Prior to his election to State Parliament on 31 January 2015 as the Member for Burdekin, Dale was Regional Manager of an employment services firm, delivering remote jobs and community programs in Townsville and Palm Island.

With a young family, Dale understands the cost of living pressures facing families, especially those with single incomes.  He would also like to see greater housing affordability and greater security for pensioners and retirees.

Dale Last is strongly focused on delivering for North Queensland. Together with his LNP colleagues, Dale is committed to growing the economy across all sectors; revitalising front line services; helping small business; increasing investment in roads and infrastructure in the north; and jobs, jobs, jobs.
